In October, thousands of literature fans will once again celebrate reading at the place where countless good stories from 100 countries begin: at Frankfurter Buchmesse. Award-winning authors Yuval Noah Harari, Elif Shafak and Anne Applebaum, recipient of the 2024 Peace Prize of the German Book Trade, will present their latest books and are part of talks on the book fair’s stages.

Book-to-Screen Day 2024 with Timothée de Fombelle and Katniss Hsiao, among others
At the Book-to-Screen Day on Friday, 18 October 2024, filmmakers from around the world will have the chance to discover new stories, characters and ideas from the international book trade. Frankfurter Buchmesse will be using the event to highlight film and series adaptations and promote an exchange between publishers and the film and streaming industry through masterclasses, matchmaking, networking events, talks and panel discussions.

Book fair venue: Frankfurter Buchmesse and Messe Frankfurt extend contract until 2028
On 3 May 2024, representatives of Frankfurter Buchmesse and Messe Frankfurt signed the extension of the contract until the end of 2028. This continues a good tradition: the largest international book fair has been held in the halls of Messe Frankfurt since 1951 – even during the pandemic years and under challenging conditions.

"Literature Parade. Guest Language German at #SalTo24"
German will be the Guest of Honour Language at this year’s international book fair in Turin (Salone Internazionale del Libro di Torino, 9-13 May 2024 (#SalTo24)). Twenty-five German-language authors will be featured as part of “Literature Parade. Guest Language German at #SalTo24”, the theme of the exhibition stand and programme on the fairgrounds and in the city, which is being jointly organised by Austria, Germany and Switzerland.

Die 75. Frankfurter Buchmesse (18.-22. Oktober 2023) hat ihre einzigartige Stellung als wichtigster internationaler Treffpunkt der Buch- und Medienbranche abermals gezeigt: Mit 105.000 Fachbesucher*innen (Vorjahr: 93.000) aus 130 Ländern und 110.000 Privatbesucher*innen (Vorjahr: 87.000) gelang der Frankfurter Buchmesse nach den beiden Coronajahren 2020 und 2021 erneut ein deutlicher Wachstumsschub.
