An interview with Margit Walsø, director of NORLA (Norwegian Literature Abroad) and chair of the network ENLIT (European Network For Literary Translation). Frankfurter Buchmesse is one of the founding members.

Two studies by Aldus Up, the European book fairs network co-founded in the framework of the Creative Europe programme and coordinated by the Italian Publishers Association (AIE), which were published on the network's platform on 16 June during the Bologna Children's Book Fair show: Europe is not united yet when it comes to statistics on the book world. From reading habits to translations data, each country performs surveys independently, making it difficult to carry out an overall analysis of trends.

Margit Walsø, Chair of ENLIT (European Network for Literary Translation) is pleased to announce that the members of ENLIT voted unanimously at a meeting on 18 March to admit the Ukrainian Book Institute to its 30-member strong network of literature in translation promotion agencies from 28 countries. 

Annette Hess, along with seven other authors, will travel to Turin for the 32nd Salone Internazionale del Libro (9-13 May) to present her novel "Deutsches Haus", the rights of which have already been sold in over 20 countries. In the interview she talks about the reappraisal of one's own history, the challenge of an adequate translation, and the impact of her book abroad.

Sustainability, translation and audiobooks on the Spanish-language market: the CONTEC meeting was held in Mexico City at the beginning of the July to share experiences and reflections from the context of Frankfurter Buchmesse with the Latin American region. At the lectures, discussion panels and workshops, 33 experts from different countries discussed. Journalist América Gutiérrez Espinosa summarised her findings for us.

As a sign language interpreter, Katharina Nickel and her colleague Beate Neumann will once again be working for us at this year's Frankfurter Buchmesse and will be translating numerous events into sign language during the weekend of the fair. We wanted to find out more about the interpreting profession and her work at events.
