Das Goldschmidt-Programm ermöglicht fünf deutschsprachigen und fünf französischsprachigen Nachwuchs-Übersetzer*innen aus der Schweiz, Frankreich und Deutschland, Verlage in den Partnerländern kennenzulernen.

The Goldschmidt programme provides five German-language and five French-language up-and-coming translators from Switzerland, France and Germany with the opportunity to get to know publishers in the partner countries.

Applications are now open for three international programmes: the Frankfurt Fellowship, the Frankfurt Invitation Programme and the new funding programme for translators of literature and non-fiction – Frankfurt International Translators.

The Geisteswissenschaften International Nonfiction Translation Prize (GINT) is being launched for the fifth time. The competition is open to applicants who have not yet translated more than one complete book from German into English. The three prizewinners will be announced in mid-September and will be invited to participate in a virtual Science Slam at Frankfurter Buchmesse (20-24 October 2021).

Publishers from Germany, Austria and Switzerland have until 5 May 2023 to apply to Italy’s cultural institutes for grants to translate titles that will be published in conjunction with Italy’s appearance as Guest of Honour at Frankfurter Buchmesse 2024.

The International Translation Centre becomes the Centre of Words, where Frankfurter Buchmesse focuses on the topic of translation with its own stage programme and a networking space.

The Franco-German exchange programme has created a far-reaching network since 2000 - with a lasting influence on the literary scene.

Two studies by Aldus Up, the European book fairs network co-founded in the framework of the Creative Europe programme and coordinated by the Italian Publishers Association (AIE), which were published on the network's platform on 16 June during the Bologna Children's Book Fair show: Europe is not united yet when it comes to statistics on the book world. From reading habits to translations data, each country performs surveys independently, making it difficult to carry out an overall analysis of trends.
