Mitja Jermol
Mitja Jermol, is a senior researcher and innovation leader in artificial intelligence, open education, and digital transformation. He holds the UNESCO Chair on Open Technologies for Open Educational Resources and Open Learning and is Deputy Director of IRCAI, the International Research Centre on Artificial Intelligence under the auspices of UNESCO at the Jožef Stefan Institute.
His work spans artificial intelligence, cybernetics, cognitive systems, e-learning, business intelligence, smart cities, intelligent transport, and factories of the future. He has led or contributed to more than 30 European R&D projects under Horizon Europe, H2020, FP7, and FP6.
He is also a co-founder of several Jožef Stefan Institute spin-off companies. Before joining the Institute, he led a distance education and e-learning group at Slovenia’s largest publishing house.
