Nigel Newton

Nigel Newton CBE is the founder and Executive Chairman of Bloomsbury Publishing Plc, which he established in 1986. Under Nigel’s leadership, Bloomsbury has grown into a leading independent global publisher, listed on the London Stock Exchange since 1994. Bloomsbury publishes J K Rowling, Sarah J Maas, Margaret Atwood, Abdulrazak Gurnah, Khaled Hosseini, Ann Patchett, Madeline Miller, Susanna Clarke—alongside non-fiction authors such as William Dalrymple, Peter Frankopan, Rutger Bregman, and Anthony Bourdain. Bloomsbury’s industry-leading Academic division publishes approximately 3,000 scholarly titles annually. 

Nigel was appointed CBE in 2021 for services to publishing and received The London Book Fair Lifetime Achievement Award in 2020. He serves as President of Book Aid International, a trustee of the V&A Museum, a member of the Cambridge University Library Advisory Committee, and an Honorary Fellow of Selwyn College, Cambridge.
