Richard Charkin

Richard Charkin has held senior roles at Bloomsbury, Macmillan, Oxford University Press, Current Science Group, and Reed Elsevier. He is a former president of the International Publishers Association, the UK Publishers Association, and The Book Society and has served in a non-executive capacity at Institute of Physics Publishing, Liverpool University Press, and Bonnier UK. He currently chairs Thames & Hudson Ltd, serves on the international advisory board of Frankfurter Buchmesse, and advises Nkoda, Shimmr AI, and Exact Editions. He runs Mensch Publishing , has authored My Back Pages, to be followed by All Rights Reserved. He lectures at several universities and is a visiting professor at University of the Arts London. He was a recipient of the Special Book Award of China and In June 2024 was appointed OBE for services to publishing and literature.
