Subrat Mohanty

Subrat Mohanty is Co-founder and CEO of KITABOO, one of the world's leading cloud-based digital publishing and learning platforms, and the person who has driven its trajectory since 2010.

An IIT Kharagpur engineer and IIM Ahmedabad postgraduate, Subrat began his career at Tata Interactive Systems before co-founding Hurix Digital in 2001. KITABOO was conceived inside Hurix on a contrarian bet: rather than licensing an existing reader, build one from scratch so that DRM, distribution, and analytics could sit in a single publisher-grade stack. That reader is now the foundation of a platform used by over 15 million users across 32 countries in around 25 languages, spanning K12, higher education, trade publishing, associations, content aggregators, and enterprise training. Today, KITABOO is the flagship product of BookIT Digital Technologies.

His current focus is KITABOO ONE, a digital content distribution and access platform built on KITABOO's reading infrastructure, designed to help publishers distribute, license and monetise content across retail, institutional and global partner ecosystems, with branded storefronts and digital library solutions for universities, libraries, corporations and government organisations. He has also taken it directly into the field, including the inaugural KITABOO ONE Library Conference in Pune.

Subrat also co-founded MSVGO, a K12 mathematics and science learning platform. In June 2026, he assembled the KITABOO Global Advisory Board, whose founding members include Richard Charkin, David Taylor, Emma House, Vikrant Mathur, Sesh Seshadri, and Pranav Gupta.
