Hanife was born in a village near Kütahya, Türkiye, close to Azanoi. She came to Germany as a baby with 9 months and considers herself a cosmopolit and a Greek by heart. Hanife lived in Cologne until university, studied in Münster (Germany), Cardiff (Wales), Strassbourg (France) and Frankfurt am Main. She holds a Master's degree in English Philology and loves reading in German, English and Turkish. In 2000, she started working for Frankfurter Buchmesse. Since 2017 she is responsible for customers from the English-language world, Greece, Türkiye, Azerbaijan and Cyprus. Hanife lives now on a remote German island in the North-Sea, where no cars or other vehicles are allowed.
