At the Frankfurt Kids Festival 2025, reading is transformed into an exciting live experience. Everything revolves around the latest children’s and young adult literature – colourful, lively and full of unforgettable stories. Young book fans will meet their favourite authors, listen to suspenseful readings, travel into virtual space and even get creative themselves – with hands-on activities, workshops and much more.

Programme highlight
Off into space – with SPACEBUZZ ONE
3-2-1 and lift off! The German Space Agency’s SPACEBUZZ ONE takes young aspiring astronauts from FBM into virtual space. The 15-minute flight around the Earth not only delivers unique perspectives, but also compelling facts about our home planet and climate change.
Germany’s public children’s broadcaster KiKA is coming to Frankfurter Buchmesse for the first time. It’s worth taking a look! With an interactive stand covering more than 500 square meters, KiKA invites the whole family to discover, play and join in the fun. Whether it’s a treasure hunt in an authentic tree house or meeting popular TV stars such as Bernd das Brot and Die Maus, there’s plenty to experience. The KiKA crew will also be there, such as “Team Timster” who will leading adventures, as well as
Ben and Sarah from KiKA Live who are looking forward to meeting their
young fans in person. On the Sunday of the fair, presenter Singa Gätgens will also host a colourful stage programme with prominent guests and even visitors from Sesame Street.
funk at Frankfurter Buchmesse
Attention, young talents: Things are getting interactive in the funk airstream at FBM – record your own content, pitch a BookTok format or design digital book covers. On Sunday, Mona Ameziane and Tahsim Durgun will give insights into their work, and “Schattenseite” author Jonas Ems will reveal how a book becomes a series – including a world premiere.
The Kids Festival events on Friday:
Reading and participation day
Exciting stories and, of course, lots of fun: this year, fair Friday (17 October 2025) will once again be a day for reading aloud and getting involved. In selected Frankfurt City public libraries, book lovers of all ages can listen to stories and meet authors in person, such as Axel Scheffler and Sybille Hein.
Rhymes, rhythm and rhubarb: Bodo Wartke for the whole family!
Word acrobat, keyboard virtuoso and social media phenomenon, Bodo Wartke is coming to Frankfurter Buchmesse and inviting young and old alike to a tongue-twisting spectacle. With wit, music and charm, he presents his book “In Barbaras Rhabarberbar wird niemals der Rhabarber rar” (In Barbara's rhubarb bar, rhubarb is never a rarity). The presentation includes reading, singing and rhyming live on stage – a delightful linguistic experience, not only for fans of his songs like “Der dicke Dachdecker”! Autographs will be available afterwards.
