Raquel Garrido is a Doctor in Art History with a thesis on illustrated children's books. Since 2004 she has been a professor of Art and Design History at the Schools of Art and Design in Aragon. In 2007 she founded, together with Edu Flores, the publishing house Apila Ediciones, dedicated to Picturebooks. Since then, she combines her work as a teacher of future illustrators and graphic designers with her work as a publisher, building bridges between the academic and professional worlds and combining her two passions, art and illustration. She is the author of several books for children and publications specialized in the research of children's literature and illustration, also participating as a speaker at conferences such as "Talento editorial" at Hay Festival in Mexico City or the XXVIII Symposium of Children's and Young People's Literature at the Instituto Cervantes in New York and has curated several exhibitions on publishing, art and illustration.
