From concept to implementation: How publishing scales knowledge

Academic, STM (Science, Technology, Medicine) and educational publishers are a key infrastructure for progress: they make research discoverable, verifiable and citable, translate complex knowledge into reliable formats, and ensure that findings reach students, schools and industry. Whether through peer review, editorial quality standards, metadata, licences or digital platforms – the sector builds trust in information and accelerates the transfer from idea to application.

At the same time, the sector is facing far-reaching changes: open-access models, new requirements regarding transparency and research data, AI-supported workflows, global visibility and issues of information integrity are shaping everyday life. As the international meeting place for the publishing industry, the Frankfurt Book Fair addresses these developments and brings together stakeholders such as publishers, libraries, research institutions, technology providers and educational organisations to drive forward solutions, standards and collaborations.

International Convention of University Presses

The International Convention of University Presses is returning to the Frankfurter Buchmesse for the eighth time. The event will take place on Friday afternoon and brings together the international community of university presses for fruitful discussion and participation.

The Scholarly Kitchen Live: Trust, Licensing, and Infrastructure in Scholarly Publishing

The Scholarly Kitchen brings its expertise and spirit of debate to the Frankfurt stage. In this year's session, Scholarly Kitchen Chefs will each present a topic that they are thinking about and then open it up to the other panelists and the audience for discussion.
The topics center on trust, licensing, and infrastructure: who is actually accountable when trust in the scholarly record breaks down, what licensing means for a sustainable publishing market, and what platforms and data infrastructure the field still needs to build.

The Charleston Micro-Conference will take place on the Friday of the fair on the Innovation Stage. From 9.00 to 11.00 am, there will be a networking breakfast followed by panel discussions. The event is being organised in collaboration with Publishing Perspectives and the Frankfurter Buchmesse.
