Cesar Medina

César Medina holds a degree in Communication Sciences from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) and is a Category ‘A’ broadcaster by the Centre for Educational Television Training (CETE) of the Ministry of Public Education.

He began his career in the publishing industry in 1986, at the Letras y Libros and Tinta y Papel bookshops in San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato, Mexico. He subsequently held various positions within the EDUCAL bookshop network, where he consolidated his experience in book promotion and marketing.

Since February 2014, he has been heading the Fondo de Cultura Económica’s subsidiary for Central America and the Caribbean, based in Guatemala. Under his leadership, the organisation has strengthened its regional presence through a bookshop stocking over 20,000 titles and a vibrant cultural centre dedicated to promoting reading and cultural outreach.

His work is notable for driving projects that expand access to books and reading in the region.
