Mia Oberländer

Mia Oberländer is a comic illustrator and author. She studied illustration and graphic storytelling under Anke Feuchtenberger at the University of Applied Sciences in Hamburg. For her debut „Anna", she was awarded the Berthold Leibinger Foundation's Comic Book Prize and a Youth Literature Prize in the ‘New Talents’ category in 2021. The volume was published in the same year by the Swiss publisher Edition Moderne and has since been translated into several languages. Her second graphic novel, „Saloon" (Edition Moderne), was released in winter 2025. She also publishes shorter works in the German edition of  Le Monde Diplomatique, ZEITmagazin and The New York Times, among others. 

Mia Oberländer has been active in the Hamburg Comic Festival since 2020.
