Mikhail Shishkin, born in Moscow in 1961, has been internationally acclaimed as one of the most important contemporary Russian writers. He is the only author to have been awarded the country’s three most renowned literary prizes. His books have been translated into 35 languages. The German translation of his novel Maidenhair (Venushaar – DVA, 2011) has won several awards. He has been one of the most vocal critics of the Putin regime for a number of years. He has been living in Switzerland since 1995.
