Participants in the discussion will include Irina Scherbakova (journalist and human rights activist from Memorial), Leonid Volkov (Navalny confidante and author of Putinland) and Mikhail Shishkin, who is considered the most important contemporary Russian author.

Sabine Adler, Eastern Europe expert at radio broadcaster Deutschlandfunk, will serve as the event’s moderator.

The event is being organised by the Freedom of Expression Committee at the German Publishers & Booksellers Association along with Frankfurt Forum, with support from the German Federal Foreign Office.
