General Information
What are the Buchmesse opening times?
From Wednesday, 14 October, until Saturday, 17 October 2020, the book fair is open from 9 a.m. until 6.30 p.m. On Sunday, 18 October 2020, the fair closes at 5.30 p.m.
Tickets
Can I use my fair ticket as a bus or train pass to the exhibition site?
Trade visitor tickets are marked with the RMV logo and allow the bearer to ride to or from the fair using local public transportation (RMV). This also applies to complimentary tickets.

Deutsche Bahn is offering an Event Ticket for Frankfurter Buchmesse 2020 with attractive fixed rates. More information available at www.buchmesse.de/en/service/arrival-accommodation.
We are coming as a group by coach, where can we pull up and park?
You can also order complimentary bus parking vouchers for the general public days (17-18 October) via our group travel service (www.buchmesse.de/en/visit/group-tours). In addition, you will receive important organisational information about arrival and departure by coach.
Decorations and informational material
I would like to set up a book fair-themed display in my store. Where can I order decorations?
At buchmesse.de/deko you can order complimentary Buchmesse posters and bookmarks with our 2020 motif.
How can my book store participate in the virtual Buchmesse?
If you cannot make it to Frankfurt this year, our virtual offering gives you the chance to participate at the fair online. And good news: all offerings are free of charge!
- Are you planning an event in connection with Frankfurter Buchmesse in your book store? Then for the first time you will have the chance to enter your presentation in our Calendar of Events starting in September and to become a part of our virtual book fair! Please register immediately at this address: services.book-fair.com/login
- Starting in mid-September you can search our Calendar of Events and Highlights Pages for interesting presentations that you would like to take part in yourself online.
- Starting mid-September, take advantage of our expanded Exhibitor Directory search function to gain an overview of new autumn releases and to get in touch with publishers.
- Visit BOOKFEST digital, our virtual Festival of Literature, on the Saturday of the fair
Where do I find the Exhibitor Directory?
The Exhibitor Directory is available online (at www.buchmesse.de/en/service/exhibitor-catalogue) or in the free Buchmesse app.
Where do I find the Calendar of Events?
The Calendar of Events will be updated daily starting in September (at www.buchmesse.de/en/service/calendar-of-events) and made available via the Buchmesse app.
What sort of informational materials are there to help orient myself at the fair?
The Hall Overview shows the various exhibitor areas at a glance, and is available free of charge at all entries to the exhibition area and all information stands. More information and the continuously updated Calendar of Events can be found at www.buchmesse.de/en and in the Buchmesse app.
At the fair
What are the key points of contact for me as a bookseller?
The German Publishers and Booksellers Association (Börsenverein des Deutschen Buchhandels) is located in Hall 3.1. Here you can meet and confer with contacts from the booksellers committee about all the services offered by the Association and other industry-related topics. In addition, you can receive important newsletters and materials for your profession.
How do I find publishers from the various categories that are relevant to my book store (art, science, IT, children's literature, etc.)?
The Exhibitor Directory, available online (www.buchmesse.de/en/service/exhibitor-catalogue) and in the Frankfurter Buchmesse app, allows you to call up and list exhibitors from your choice of market segments (e.g. children's and young adult literature) or topics (e.g. crime, storybooks, cooking and lifestyle).
How can I contact exhibitors in advance?
The Exhibitor Directory provides addresses for each exhibitor which you can use to order information or make appointments for personal meetings on-site.
What does the Frankfurter Buchmesse app offer and how do I use it?
Our complimentary app offers you all the key information (Exhibitor Directory, Calendar of Events and much more) on your Smartphone or tablet. Starting in October it will be available for download for Android and iOS in the respective stores.
Practical tips
When and where can I purchase books at the fair as a bookseller?
As a bookseller, you will as a rule have the right to purchase books from the exhibitor stands at dealer prices.
The decision regarding when and to what extent the publishers allow the sale of books at the fair is up to each individual exhibitor.
How do I find accommodation in Frankfurt?
On our website (www.buchmesse.de/en/service/arrival-accommodation), you will find links to our partners with whom you can book hotels or even private rooms in the region. One tip: Add the surrounding cities and towns to your search to find additional suitable accommodations. Remember that your trade visitor ticket allows you free travel to and from the exhibition site using public transportation in the entire Rhine-Main area.
