In our FAQ section, we have compiled answers to frequently asked questions about visiting Frankfurter Buchmesse as a bookseller.

General

Frankfurter Buchmesse will be open from Wednesday, October 18, 2023, to Saturday, October 21, 2023, from 9:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. On the Sunday of the Fair, October 22, 2023, the Fair will close at 5:30 p.m. Public access is available from Friday, October 20, starting at 2:00 p.m.

Arrival

All paid tickets for trade visitors include free access to the public transport system of the Rhein-Main-Verkehrsverbund for transportation to and from the book fair. To avail of this service, please print out the PDF ticket and present it when using public transport. 

Deutsche Bahn is providing an event ticket(opens in a new window) with attractive fixed prices for Frankfurter Buchmesse 2023.

Further information on arrival

If you have a want to visit the Frankfurt Book Fair with a group of 20 or more people, you can take advantage of our group travel service. Kindly inform us of the number of people in your group, your preferred day of visiting the Book Fair and whether you will be traveling by bus. Please send your request via e-mail. Decoration material

If you wish to highlight Frankfurter Buchmesse and the Guest of Honour in your bookshop, you can order posters and bookmarks featuring our annual motif, along with a package of decoration and information material on the Guest of Honour Slovenia, free of charge through our website starting from mid-August.

Tickets

As a bookseller, you have the privilege of purchasing trade visitor tickets at a discounted price. These tickets can be acquired online(opens in a new window) or at the box offices (card payment only). Please ensure to present proof of your authorization, such as a business card or a letter from your employer, when entering the fair area. 

Price: Reduced trade visitor day ticket for 25 euros, also available on weekends.

Hygiene concept

This year, it is anticipated that very few pandemic-related restrictions will be necessary. Nevertheless, we will maintain our focus on hygiene and safety by implementing various measures and following recommended guidelines.

Information material

Our free app provides you with convenient navigation around the book fair. It offers all the essential information, including the exhibitor catalog, event calendar and hall overview map, accessible on your smartphone or tablet. The app will be available for download on Android and iOS devices in their respective app stores starting from the end of August.

Starting from the end of August, the calendar of events will be available at buchmesse.de/kalender and through the Book Fair app.

You can get a comprehensive overview of the different exhibition areas through the hall plan, which is available free of charge at the entrances to the exhibition grounds and at all information stands. For more information, visit buchmesse.de and check out the Book Fair app.

German Publishers & Booksellers Association (Hall 4.0 E21): Here, you can have discussions with your contact persons about the services offered by the Börsenverein and other industry-related topics. 

Collective exhibition Stationery & Gifts (Hall 3.0 H21): This section presents an exciting opportunity for you to expand your product range with a diverse selection of stationery and unique gift items, allowing you to attract new customer groups. 

Calendar Gallery (Hall 3.1 G95): You can explore the latest trends in calendar photography, which can help you include up-to-date and attractive calendar products in your bookshop. 

Collective exhibition Audio (Hall 3.1 K25): This joint exhibition features the latest audio book highlights from German-language publishers. 

Reading Island of Independent Publishers (Hall 3.1 C105): Organized by the Kurt Wolff Foundation in collaboration with the Frankfurt Book Fair.

Practical information

As a bookseller, you have the right to purchase books at the exhibitor stands at the dealer price during the entire book fair. It is up to each exhibitor to decide whether, when and to what extent publishers will allow book purchases at the Fair.
