Frankfurter Buchmesse 2020 set to take place
Frankfurter Buchmesse 2020 will take place. A decision to that effect was made today by the Supervisory Board of BBG (Börsenverein des Deutschen Buchhandels Beteiligungsgesellschaft / German Publishers & Booksellers Association). The book fair is planned to be held on the fairgrounds, throughout the city and virtually.

We understand that planning such as this falls into an uncertain time period and so we are therefore extending the submission deadline for the BOOKFEST Call for Participation to 31 May 2020. Publishers and partners are invited to submit their ideas for the festival of Frankfurter Buchmesse.

"Books at Berlinale" 2020: Twelve International Literary Works in Search of Film Producers
On February 24, at the "Books at Berlinale" pitching event, a co-operation with Frankfurter Buchmesse, the Berlinale Co-Production Market will once again present twelve exceptional works of literature that are particularly well-suited to adaptation for the screen. "Books at Berlinale", which has been placing a spotlight on recent publications and bestsellers every year since 2006, gives film producers the opportunity to come into contact with renowned and internationally active publishers and literary agents who hold the film rights to the books in question.

THE ARTS+ Innovation Day 2019
On Thursday, 17 October 2019, the German Publishers & Booksellers Group organised THE ARTS+ Innovation Day at Frankfurter Buchmesse. The most important item on the agenda: the founding of the Content Innovation Council (CIC), designed to actively support Europe’s cultural and creative sectors as they respond to the challenges resulting from digital transformation.

On Sunday, 20 October 2019, the premiere of THE ARTS+/B3 came to a successful conclusion in Frankfurt/Main. Frankfurter Buchmesse ends with significant increase in visitors
The 71st Frankfurter Buchmesse ended today, with a significant increase in the number of visitors of 8.3 percent at the weekend and a rise of 3.7 percent on the trade visitor days. In 2019, the fair welcomed a total of 302,267 visitors, an increase of 6.0 percent compared to last year.

And the winners are … The Frankfurter Buchmesse Film Awards and the B3 BEN Awards
Tomorrow, 19 October at 8 pm, the Award Show of the B3 BEN & Frankfurter Buchmesse Film Awards 2019 will take place. State Secretary Ayse Asar (HMWK), Juergen Boos, Director of the Frankfurter Buchmesse, and Prof Bernd Kracke (HfG/B3) are expecting Oscar-winning director Steve McQueen to attend the award gala. Artist Lena Chena, director Hans Petter Moland and many other guests will also be there to receive their awards.

Nobel Laureate in Literature to speak at Frankfurter Buchmesse
Olga Tokarczuk, winner of the 2018 Nobel Prize in Literature only announced last week, will talk about the political responsibility of authors at the Opening Press Conference of Frankfurter Buchmesse on 15 October 2019. The Polish writer is one of the most important contemporary European authors. Her work has been translated into 37 languages and has received numerous awards.
