Barbaros Altuğ: »Foreigners«. The new novel of his exile trilogy.
Reading by Barbaros Altuğ about the diverse experiences of life in exile, homelessness and friendship
In 2016, the year of the military coup in Turkey, the three friends Dunya, Tuba and Suna decide to travel to Portugal for a few days. During their holiday, the news reaches them that a file that is critical of the government written by Tuba and Dunya has been confiscated by the police in Istanbul. They cannot return and are forced to go into exile.
In his novel, Barbaros Altuğ writes impressively about the current situation of journalists and intellectuals in Turkey, about friendship and betrayal, about migration, homelessness, life in exile and the life experiences of Turkish immigrants in Germany - both in the late 1970s and today.
The German passages will be read by Stéphane Bittoun.
