ALEJANDRO VACCARO, ARGENTINA

As a biographer and collector of writings and other objects by the Argentine writer Jorge Luis Borges, Alejandro Vaccaro is president of the Borges Association Asociación Borgesiana de Buenos Aires. In 2010, he received a permanent seat in the Instituto de Cultura Mexicana with the academic appointment of Académico de Número, followed seven years later by a second appointment as Académico de Número, this time in the Academia Porteña del Lunfardo. He was named a "special personality of culture" by the government of the city of Buenos Aires. Holder of the prestigious Medal of Hispanidad, he lectures in Argentina and other countries around the world. He is currently president of the book foundation Fundación El Libro, which he will continue to preside over until 2024, and president of the Argentine Writers' Union until the end of this year.
