María Cecilia Barbetta

Born in Buenos Aires in 1972, María Cecilia travelled to Berlin in 1996 with a grant by DAAD. She completed her PhD in German Philology at the Free University of Berlin in 200. She dedicates herself to writing since 2005, with her first novel, “Änderungsschneiderei Los Milagros” written in German, being published in 2008. She received the award for best first work in German Language in the same year. Her second novel “Nachleuten” (2018) was shortlisted in the German Book Prize and was granted the Alfred-Döblin Prize (2017) and the Chamisso-Preis / Hellerau Prize (2019). She has been a member of P.E.N. ever since 2011.
