Alena Mornštajnová: Born in 1963, studied English and Czech at the University of Ostrava. After working as an editor and translator of English, she lives as a writer in Valašské Meziříčí in Moravia. Since her debut in 2013, she has published five novels and one children's book.

Her novel "Hana," published in 2017, makes her one of the most popular Czech authors. The multiple award-winning novel (German: 2020 Wieser Verlag) has been translated into 14 languages. The story of Hana has been staged as a play and a film is in preparation. Her following novel, Silent Years, was voted Book of the Year by the public in the Czech Republic in 2019 and was published in German in 2021, also by Wieser Verlag.
