María del Mar Gámiz is translator of literary texts from Russian into Spanish. She has been a member of the Asociación Mexicana de Traductores Literarios (Ametli) since 2018. As a populariser of Russian literature, she devised and coordinated the online seminar "Literatura rusa. Panorama crítico: desde sus orígenes hasta hoy, en traducción al español", hosted by the Colegio de San Ildefonso; and the "Curso de literatura rusa decimonónica", with the support of the Casa de Rusia en México and the Secretaría de Cultura. Her translation of Alexander Bek's Un nuevo nombramiento won the Bellas Artes Margarita Michelena Literary Translation Prize in 2022. She currently works in the editorial production area of Siglo XXI Editores.
