Most books are still classified by genre. But readers not always look for a genre. They look for something to feel, to understand or to get through. That gap is a discoverability problem and it costs publishers, booksellers and libraries every day.

Love for Livres has spent ten years building reading programmes around emotions rather than categories, for publishers, libraries, companies and vulnerable audiences across Europe. That work produced the Key Emotion Indicator (KEI), a proprietary method for mapping the emotional effect of a book, and LOE for Good, an European platform supported by Europe Creative and 8 partners that turns the method into a working recommendation tool.

In this Masterclass, we will show how emotion-based classification works in practice: how a book is indexed, how AI is used (and where it is deliberately not used), what the data says about reader behaviour, how reading can support bibliotherapy and finally what publishers, booksellers and cultural institutions can do with it. The session includes a live look at the LOE for Good platform.
